D. Rollings
Over the years I have been collecting information about businesses that operated in the village from its founding years until the Post Office closed in 1919. Sources for this info were compiled primarily from newspaper articles and from annual Gazetteer entries (i.e., Dun- Wiman, Lovell's, etc.). I was able to compile about 50 gazetteer entries, but they are notoriously inaccurate as they relied on agents in each community to provide the updates instead of doing the research themselves. This list isn't perfect, but it is still a great resource for anyone interested in learning about the industrial and commercial history of northwest Toronto Township through the 19th century. I hope that this proves a useful resource for you amateur local historians. Please reach out with questions, requests or corrections.
